1956 Harmony made Aldens H44 Stratotone Gold

Interested in this guitar? It’s for SALE! Call (515) 864-6136 Today Lawman Guitars is Presenting… An incredible find… A beautiful 1957 Aldens, Made by Harmony H44 Stratotone Guitar with the original soft shell Case. We have had lots of these cool Harmony H44's...this is only the second from Aldens...These were made by Harmony to the same specs... They were sold in the Aldens Catalogs instead of Sears like the Harmony models. This guitar is in incredible shape and is all original except for the replaced nut and tuners. The tuners were upgraded but fortunately, the original owner kept the originals in the case. They come with the guitar. It tunes better with the new tuners... your decision. See pic 17... We checked the pots which is the only way to try to date these. They made from 1953 thru 1957. The pots had such small numbers, we couldn't read them. We are calling this one a 1957. Its one of those years... See pic 5. This cool guitar sports the great looking Gold Finish unlike the same Harmony Models which were in the Copper finish. Exactly a like except for the headstock Logo. Aldens used this Logo for theirs. I have seen some of these gold models and even the copper ones turn green over time. The finish will react with the oils from our hands and arms. You can see this one has turned not only green but has worn all the way thru to the base coat of white on the back of the neck where the hand was for most of the playing..in the cowboy chord area… Its been worn in many other places where you would expect it. The guitar was played...thats for sure. I have never seen one with so much base coat showing...its very cool looking!! Happy to see how beautiful the gold still is on this one…Another area that is always missing is the input jack plate. Even the original input jack plate is still with this one..see pic 6… All original from there to include the awesome sounding DeArmond Hersey Bar Single coil pickup, original Wavery tuners, (in the case), Harmony Cup Cake knobs, Pickguard, Tailpiece, end pin... These guitar have awesome baseball bat rounded necks that are big, but feel incredible in the hand. I have small hands but love playing this guitar. The nut measures 1 3/4 inches and is also original. Neck is nice and straight..the action measures 1/16 inch at the first fret then only 1/8 inch at the 12th fret. It has a 25 1/2 inch scale neck... Very good playing action. A lot of these don't . This one is a player!! The Pickup sounds incredible. Very dark and bluesy…. Slide players love these but these guitars handle all styles. Richie Valens played on just like it when he was still around in the 1950’s! Don’t forget the awesome original Harmony Soft Shell Case. You never find these with the guitar. I was thrilled that the second owner of this guitar still had the case. All latches, hinges and original handle are still with it as well as the accessory box.. We are so lucky to have the original case with this guitar. Just as nice as the guitar. What a great guitar combo to have! Sold as-is no returns as its vintage and used…however, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for over 20 years now and they have all loved the guitars I found them. This incredibly used Aldens H44 will certainly not be an exception. Thanks for checking out our cool guitars, parts and gear!! Lawman Mike at Lawman Guitars
