The Mountain Wild | Velebit

This is an excerpt from my upcoming video (which is currently still in the editing). I tried to describe the wild mountain which I believe I know well enough to be able to appreciate it immensely. All this thanks to one specific wild creature ... the wolf and his family, with whom I spent many years together. These are just a few minutes of raw material selected from the archives without comments and background music. I sincerely hope that I will have the strength to finish this demanding job from shooting to editing and be pleased to complete this soon (The Diary of Paul Balenovic). Central is an unusual man who has had an unusually close relationship with one of our most feared animals. By the time this film was made, Balenovic, who made a living doing movie stunts, had kept the company of wolves, Lik in particular, for 17 years. Much is lyrically told through his own film footage. We learn much about the type of relationship that is possible between man and wolf. A wolf, we find out, can be close to man, but does not make a good family pet. This film leaves a raw, impressionistic view of man and animals. Strangely, we see just one shot of Balenovic with his 'other family'. One lonely man living with wolves is one thing. Pokušao sam na sasvim svoj način opisati divljinu planine koju sam dovoljno dobro upoznao da bi je zauvijek i beskrajno mogao cijeniti. Sve to zahvaljujući onom jednom vuku i njegovoj obitelji s kojima sam proveo tolike godine. Ovo je samo nekoliko sirovih minuta odabranih iz arhive bez pratećeg teksta, komentara i pozadinske muzike. Iskreno se nadam da ću imati snage i sa zadovoljstvom završiti taj dugotrajan i iznimno zahtjevan posao od snimanja do montaže i uskoro ispuniti dug prema samom sebi (Pavle Balenović).
