The source video I used to create this one is here: https://ok.ru/video/3762900961865 That was the best-quality upload of this performance I could find online. I have not been able to find out what TV show this performance is from, or the date of broadcast, but it appears to be from sometime around 1959. None of the uploads of it I found featured the original audio track; they all had been redubbed with a high-quality audio of the single. The audio track of the source video missed the very beginning and very ending of the song and did not have the highest audio quality possible, so I have replaced it with a high-quality, full-length one, and this involved slowing down the footage slightly, as it was running a bit too fast compared to the HQ audio track I am using. To accompany the very beginning of the song, I have put up on screen a picture of the single as released in the USA. The source video was slightly out-of-sync, with the picture running slightly late compared to the sound, so I have fixed that. I have adjusted the colours slightly, making the dark areas slightly darker. I have also added optional subtitles for the lyrics. This song was written by Ed Marshall. This version by Frankie Avalon appears to be the first one recorded and released. There is no one credited as producer on the single, but one of the earliest albums on which the song was featured – "A Whole Lotta Frankie" (1961) – is said to be produced by Robert P. Marcucci and Russ Faith. Info source: https://www.discogs.com/master/959737-Fran... The orchestra and chorus were directed by Peter De Angelis. According to Wikipedia, this single went to No. 1 in the USA, and reached No. 2 in Belgium. Apparently it did not reach the charts in any other country. For more information on this song and track, see these pages: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?searc... https://www.discogs.com/master/287007-Fran... I have not been able to find an official presentation of the lyrics to this song. Presented below and as optional subtitles in the video is my own transcript of the lyrics, for which I have used the transcripts found on lyrics websites as a guide. Lyrics: "Venus" Frankie Avalon (Words and Music by Ed Marshall) Hey, Venus Oh, Venus Venus, if you will Please send a little girl for me to thrill A girl who wants my kisses and my arms A girl with all the charms of you Venus, make her fair A lovely girl with sunlight in her hair And take the brightest stars up in the skies And place them in her eyes for me Venus, goddess of love that you are Surely the things I ask Can't be too great a task Venus, if you do I promise that I always will be true I'll give her all the love I have to give As long as we both shall live Venus, goddess of love that you are Surely the things I ask Can't be too great a task Venus, if you do I promise that I always will be true I'll give her all the love I have to give As long as we both shall live Hey, Venus Oh, Venus Make my wish come true
