Latest Variant of EMD GT46MAC Locomotive - The Massive WDG-4D !!

The new species of diesel locomotives which are making their presence felt all over the Indian Railways network - The Giant Dual-Cab Purple-Yellow Locomotives WDG-4D !! Date: Saturday, 22nd August and Sunday, 23rd August 2015. Time: 12:04 PM and 4:40 PM respectively. Location: Near Akurdi and Ghorawadi Station, Maharashtra. Camera: Canon PowerShot SX700 HS. Finally after a long wait, I was able to capture one of these new beasts of IR !! Seen here is Central Railway's Kalyan Diesel Loco Shed based WDG-4D #70326 hauling 11029/11030 Koyna Express both ways on consecutive days. WDG-4D is just a re-designed dual-cab version of previous class WDG-4 having same power output. It provides much better visibility while driving as compared to the long-hood operation of WDG-4, which was a nightmare for pilots. Also these locomotives are equipped with latest power electronic devices for better efficiency and more power output. First prototype WDG-4D #12681 a.k.a. 'VIJAY' is manufactured by DLW Varanasi in year 2013 and is currently based at Western Railways Sabarmati Diesel Loco Shed. Basically WDG-4D's are the locomotives for goods operation but they can be used with Express trains with a speed restriction of 100Kmph as seen here!!
