OKRs || A Simple Method for Quarterly Planning & Productivity

OKRs are a simple, logical methodology for defining your "Objective" and the "Key Results" for achievement. In my last quarterly review video I briefly mentioned OKRs and there was a lot of demand to do an entire video about this system, so here we are! I first learned about OKRs through my work at ConvertKit. We used the system to define and align our individual work with the goals of the entire company. I liked it so much that I started using OKRs in my side hustle to plan out videos and courses. The simple description of OKRs is the "Objective" is what you want to achieve, and the "Key Results" are what you will do to achieve the objective. There is a lot of nuance as to the how you prioritize and work on the key results, but that's where the productivity system that you've created for your work really comes in to play. One thing to emphasize about OKRs - they take a little getting used to. A good key result should be measurable, at the very least a binary "did I do this or not?" but even better when it's a specific number you want to reach. I recommend trying out OKRs on a single goal for this quarter. That will allow you to get a feel for the system and tinker with the results. If you feel really good about it, then consider setting a mini-OKR for the latter half of the quarter. This is very normal for people starting out!
