This is a drum playthrough of Hellriot by Mystic Prophecy. In april this year my friend Mathias invited me to come to his newly build drum recording studio to film some playthrough videos. We spent a great day exchanging all kinds of tour stories and equipment-nerd-stuff and drinking coffee. Hellriot is the title track of the latest Mystic Prophecy album and it was one of the first songs that I got as a demo. It's an all-out in-your-face kind of song and drumtrack right from the get go with lots of cymbal accents. The mostly medium tempo kickdrum is only interrupted in the pre-choruses with short 16th note bursts. It felt tricky at first and it was difficult to get it rolling with all of the offbeat accents. But after playing it live I've gotten used to it. Big shoutout to Mathias for doing all the work in post-production. He made my drumkit sound super fat and punchy and I also really dig the video editing! Thank you!
