Shinko E804 E805 tyre review︱Cross Training Adventure

http://crosstrainingenduro.com Our Shinko E804 E805 tyre review! Regular viewers will know we aren't keen on tyre reviews. Ten riders will have ten wildly different opinions about the same tyre. And we think a lot of riders are obsessive about tyre choice when they should focus more on learning to ride better. Welcome to Cross Training Adventure, we are into all things dual sport and adventure on the east coast of Australia. However, we keep getting questions about various tyres. Keen on adventure riding in Australia? Check out our vids. So here is our Shinko E804 front tyre and Shinko E805 rear tyre review which are fitted to my brother's DR650. And we also read dozens of reviews and owner reports to get a good overview. A quick summary? Great dual-sport tyres. Cheap. And long wear. This big block tread pattern might look like an off-road tyre. But Shinko state it's a 60% off-road and 40% on-road riding and we think that's correct. A lot of adventure riders will be happy to know they are very quiet for road riding in this Shinko E804 E805 review. The Shinkos also perform well for road riding. We haven't done any hard cornering but plenty of riders say they grip well for aggressive cornering. One strange thing though with the Shinko E804. If you like dual sport riding in Australia then you might like our adventure riding vids. We found the Shinkos a bit sketchy on wet road surfaces, but all the comments we see from other riders say the E804/E805 combination is great on wet roads. Go figure. Off-road? Quite good grip in most conditions. It's definitely worth experimenting with air pressure. Initially the tyres felt a bit skaty on some surfaces but it improved dramatically at 20psi. You will notice the difference in mud or soft sand though. It simply won't hook up the way an aggressive knobby will. Two riders reported they would prefer if the Shinko E804 tread pattern had offset blocks to improve lateral stability when riding off-camber terrain. However we never felt that was a problem and probably not too relevant for most adventure riders. Tyre life? It's impressive. We expect to get about 10,000km from the rear ShinkoE805. It's difficult to say with the E804 front tyre as the tread depth hasn't changed after thousands of kilometres. Check out our reviews of various adventure bikes and dual sport bikes. But we may change it at the same time as the knobs will slowly round off. Of course tyre life depends on your riding style. This rider had 17000km on his rear Shinko E805. But some aggressive riders report only getting half that mileage. Price? This varies from country to country but it's usually well priced compared to similar tyres in other brands. A few riders noted they could buy the two Shinko tyres for the price of just one tyre in other brands. Have you tried the Shinko E804 and E805? We are keen to hear your thoughts. When you hear so many different opinions we figure the only way to get a balanced view on the Shinko E804 is hear as many opinions as possible! We think the whole motorbike scene is getting too commercial. So called dual sport riding reviews are just glossy ads nowdays. Everyone is trying to sell you stuff you don't need, convince you to buy the latest model with anodized coffee cup holders for your trips to the coffee shop. Of course if you are cashed up and into bling, go for it. All we are saying is there's also the budget option for adventure riding. And it won't hold you back. Why? We reckon it's 80% the rider and 20% the bike. So the Cross Training Adventure focus is just get out there and have fun on two wheels. Instead of obsessing over the latest blinged out Beemer, which tyres to fit or spending a fortune on your suspension or billet alloy gas cap. So most of our adventure riding vids will feature the much loved bush pig, the Suzuki DR650. And we've done a 10 part series on how to unleash the mighty beast that lurks within. What else? Cross Training Adventure actively avoids sponsorship. We like doing seriously critical reviews. Manufacturers make some really bad mistakes. and there is a lot of dodgy crap being sold out there. Instead of glowing dual sport reviews for kickbacks or free product, we will try to keep the buggers honest. So subscribe. Or don't subscribe to our Cross Training Adventure riding channel. The main thing is get out and ride while you can with dual sport riding or Adventure riding in Australia, Canada, Vietnam, Romania and beyond! So check out Cross Training Adventure.
