It took quite a bit of hustling, negotiating and hard work to get the first CANSA Shavathon off the ground. Fortunately for CANSA, Simon Clark persevered and in 2003 events were held at 50 venues in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). Thank you Simon for the initiative you took – Shavathon is now a firm favourite on the South African calendar and well loved by all affected through cancer.
