We can be like a mountain with rivers of love and compassion flowing down from the top into the community. With metaphors from his background in Esoteric Buddhism, Kenmei Foxworth talks about how we can find a sense of purpose and be interconnected in our communities. He also draws a connection to the new academic topic of Environmental Japanology and what it teaches us about interconnectedness. Kenmei Foxworth is an Archarya and Shugenja of the Ishizuchi-San Shingon Buddhist sect. Having completed various ascetic practices and teachings he has become a lineage holder for his sect’s Shingon and Shugendo teachings and handles international outreach. He is also involved in helping other Shingon sects internationalize, translating esoteric texts, and teaching Buddhism to international students. Kenmei is passionate about helping people find a greater meaning to life and making an impact on the suffering in the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
