South Africa Fights Back: Takes Israel to the ICJ with 750 Pages of Evidence! The United Nations Security Council holds quarterly open debate on "The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question" (MEPQ) in New York City on Tuesday, October 29. Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland is expected to focus on the implementation of the resolution 2735 dating back to June. The document implies immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and return of all hostages, end of hostilities, withdrawal of Israeli troops and start of reconstruction process in the region. Council members are expected to recap the recent reports on the humanitarian situation, risks for media workers and conditions of women as well as consequences of the poliovirus in Gaza. The speakers will discuss the necessity of a two-state solution in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The resolution 2735, proposed by the USA, Egypt and Qatar, was accepted by Israel and urges both parties for its immediate implementation.
