Punakha used to be the capital of the country and the seat of Government until the year 1955 when it was shifted to Thimphu. The Punakha Dzong is also very important as it is the place of coronation for the kings of Bhutan. The Dzong also houses the sacred remains of Ngawang Namgyal- the unifier of Bhutan. In this video we will cross the Dochula Pass to reach Punakha, visit the Punakha Dzong, the suspension bridge, try some local Bhutanese food and go river rafting!
