Resident Evil Village PC - i5 4690K & GTX 1070 - FPS Test and Settings | 1080p FSR OFF vs ON

Greetings, everyone. Today we’re testing Resident Evil Village…wait, again? What is this? Oh, is that the 2014 Intel Core i4 4690K and the GeForce GTX 1070? Yes, yes they are, I was bored so I spent some time putting that old PC together, with Windows 10 all freshly installed and updated, and here we are, testing a 2021 game on such older PC. The PC specs: -CPU: i5 [email protected] GHz with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO. -Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger (Z97). -GPU: Inno3D Twin X2 GTX 1070 (stock) and WHQL driver 472.12. -RAM: 16 GB DDR3@1866, 9-10-9-28. -Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB (O.S. and game), WD Caviar Black 500 GBx2 HDDs on RAID 0 setup (for files, videos and stuff). -Case: Antec P182 from a million years ago (2007), and poor frontal airflow :P -PSU: Corsair RMx 650W 80+ Gold. -O.S: Windows 10 Pro with latest updates. -Monitor: Acer GN246HLB 144 Hz. Some timestamps: 00:00 - Intro and 1080p Max Settings, FSR Ultra Quality OFF vs ON side by side, Dimitrescu's Daughters cutscene 02:37 - [1080p]Max Settings, FSR Ultra Quality vs Interlaced Rendering, Dimitrescu's Daughters scene 04:44 - [1080p]High Settings, FSR OFF vs ON (Ultra Quality), Dimitrescu's Daughters run 07:38 - [1080p]Medium Settings, FSR OFF vs ON (Ultra Quality), Dimitrescu's Daughters run 09:45 - [1080p]Low/Minimum Settings, FSR OFF vs ON (Ultra Quality), Dimitrescu's Daughters cutscene 12:40 - [1080p]Max/High/Med/Low Comparison, FSR OFF, Dimitrescu's Daughters scene 13:47 - Individual Settings performance impact testing (looking for Optimal Custom Settings) 19:08 - High Mesh Quality produces popping, should use Max Mesh instead 20:17 - [1080p]Custom Settings, 60 FPS RTSS limit, Dimitrescu's Daughters cutscene 22:31 - [1080p]Custom Settings, 60 FPS RTSS limit, inside Dimitrescu's Castle, looking for Cassandra 25:35 - [1620p Interlaced]1080px1.5 Resolution Scale and Interlaced enabled, 60 FPS cap, Cassandra's first encounter Well, what can I say, this PC is old, quite old today, especially the CPU, only 4 cores and 4 threads. The GTX 1070 still handles some modern games moderately fine at 1080p, for sure, and in RE Village it runs pretty well, all things considered. Therefore, 1080p is mostly the focus in this video, with Max, High, Medium, and Low settings tested, with side by side comparisons with AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) also thrown in there for good measure, and some Interlaced rendering too sometimes. This is not one of those “OMG 4 cores are still good”, they’re not for many games today, but for a well-balanced PC like this, it is still possible to enjoy semi-decent performance with the appropriate settings, in certain games and I think there’s no doubt that Resident Evil Village is a demanding game, especially on the GPU. As usual, I hope this can be useful to any of you, and I’ll see you next time : ) #ResidentEvilVillage #GTX1070 #4690K
