I am very blessed to say that I had a great friendship with Tut Taylor and got to play music with him many times before he passed away in 2015. He was a genius that created a new style of dobro playing, wrote countless brilliant instrumentals, and took part in a project that changed the course of acoustic music: John Hartford's Aereo-Plain. This tune comes from an album called Flat Pickin in the Kitchen with Norman Blake and Tut Taylor. Tut had a lifelong passion for recording, archiving, and releasing music with his friends, and this particular album consists of informal recordings and jam sessions with Norman Blake and several others in Nashville during the 70s. I decided to work out my own version of this tune, rather than flatpicking it like he did. The arrangement and licks are my own, but the melody is all Tut. Simple and honest.
