As an Education Specialist with Monarch Joint Venture, Laura collaborates with federal and state agencies, non-governmental organizations, and academic programs to safeguard the monarch migration across the United States. During the webinar, Laura delved into the fascinating ecology of Monarchs, shed light on the challenges they encounter, assessed the current population status, and inspired us with actionable ways to contribute to their conservation. Laura has worked with Monarch Joint Venture – formerly the University of Minnesota Monarch Lab – for many years providing professional development to educators. She has been recognized by educational and environmental groups for her approach to engaging students in authentic science and is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching. She is both a Minnesota Master Naturalist and a Minnesota Master Gardener. Laura and her husband, Jim, live in New London, Minnesota, where they raised their three children.
