Ford Ranger Biturbo 2L diesel DIY Oil Service & Filter change - step by step how to guide on MY 2019

Do it yourself video outlining the process of changing the engine oil and oil filter for a new 2019 Ford Ranger 2.0 Litre Bi-turbo diesel engine. Time: 30mins - 1hour Skill: Experienced Beginner (you know how to safely change a wheel) Parts required: 1. 7.1 litres of engine meeting (Ford) WSS-M2C950-A 2. Oil filter cartridge- part no. 1720612 / BB3Q-6744-BA Tools required: 1. Vehicle jack 2. Vehicle jack/support stand 3. 19mm socket + long handled wrench / wheel brace 4. 15mm spanner / socket 5. 13mm spanner / socket 6. Protective gloves to prevent oil contact 7. Oil drain catch container 8. Short Phillips Head screwdriver 9. Paper towel / rags 10. 27mm spanner / socket 11. Torque wrench (optional) Steps: Note: this Bi Turbo DIY was completed on a hoist, but all steps that follow are based on doing this on the ground 1. Warm engine (from cold only for 2 minutes, if hot, let cool for 20 minutes) 2. Prepare to remove left hand front wheel by cracking wheel nuts with 19mm socket 3. Jack up front left corner of vehicle & support with stand - this is important as you will need to get underneath the vehicle 4. Locate centre bash/protective panel to access the oil drain bolt 5. Loosen 2 front bolts with 15mm spanner / socket holding panel (no need to fully remove) 6. Remove 2 rear bolts with 15mm spanner / socket and remove centre panel 7. Move oil drain catch container under oil pan 8. Loosen drain bolt with 13mm spanner / socket. Complete last few turns by hand so drain bolt doesn’t drop into container (you’ll need to fish it out if you accidentally drop) 9. Let oil drain until only small volume dripping 10. While waiting to drain, complete removal of left front wheel 11. Locate rubber liner secured with plastic lugs 12. Gently remove (partially or fully) screws until plastic lugs remove with rubber wheel well liner. If you use too hard pressure on screw head, it won’t unscrew. 13. Prepare paper towel / rags below oil filter holder/canister - it will leak around 100ml of oil when you open 14. Use the 27mm spanner / socket to remove oil filter cap / holder 15. Remove old filter and replace rubber o-ring - lightly oil o-ring with new engine oil 16. Reinstall oil filter cap / holder. Tighten till it is fully seated or follow printed instructions if you have a torque wrench (25Nm followed by 30Nm) 17. Reinstall rubber wheel well liner. Install plastic lugs without screws first, and then simply push in the screw (no need to screw in) 18. Reinstall front left wheel. Ensure wheel is seated fully against hub and hand tighten nuts (you’ll fully tighten once no longer jacked up) 19. Oil should have drained by now, so reinstall the oil drain bolt. Tighten till snug (use factory tightening marks) 20. Reinstall centre bash/protectively panel. Tighten nuts till snug 21. Open engine bonnet and locate oil filler - remove filler cap 22. Add 6L of engine oil 23. To get accurate oil level, car must be on a flat surface, so while the oil you added is settling now is a good time remove the car of the jack stand 24. Remember to fully tighten the wheel nuts - ideally to approx 110Nm of torque 25. Check the oil level at dipstick. Keep adding engine oil in small amounts (e.g. 200ml amounts) until the level reads full. 26. Reinstall oil filler cap 27. Start the car and let it run for 2 minutes and then sit for another 2 minutes. 28. Recheck oil level and add oil as required - once it reads full you are done Thanks for watching.
