Mapungubwe | Magical Mazhou | Better than Northern Kruger?

Mapungubwe | Magical Mazhou | Better than Northern Kruger? BEST OF THE NORTH - Join me on this memorable trip as I explore the 2 national parks that are in the very north of the country. May/Jun 2024 Part 1(This episode): Mazhou Camp, Mapungubwe National Park Part2: Punda Maria Rest Camp, Kruger National Park Wow! This might just be one the best camping sites in South Africa! Magical, Magnificent, Majestic, Marvelous... I wish I could use more adjectives to describe the Mazhou campsite. In my opinion, this is a very underrated park! Renowned for its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. The park is home to the ancient Kingdom of Mapungubwe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which thrived from around 1075 to 1220 AD. Visitors can explore the impressive rock formations, diverse wildlife and scenic vistas. Camps in Mapungubwe are Leokwe, Limpopo Forest Tent Camp, Tshugulu and Vhembe Wilderness Camp. I stayed at the Mazhou campsite. There are only 10 sites, electricity, kitchen and ablution facilities and a fence that almost keeps the animals out and an amazing atmosphere... ------------------------------------------------------------ The trip starts off at Mapungubwe where It's my first time staying at the Mazhou Campsite in Mapungubwe National Park. 3 days later it was time to explore Punda Maria in Kruger National Park. What I really enjoyed on this trip are the hides in and around the camps! The Maloutswa hide is about 3km from camp and the hide inside the Punda Maria Rest Camp was great as you could sit in the hide 24/7. The theme of this entire trip was elephants. Elephants came into camp to welcome me at Mazhou, then I came within touching distance at the Maloutswa hide, then had ellies within 10m from my braai, with no fence in between. At Punda Maria, the elephants trumpeting me to sleep and their antics at the waterhole were so entertaining!
