I wanted to switch the grigri into a better position and had to completely disconnect the grigri to fix this. Lesson learned is to double check your systems from the ground. I knew the risk and made the choice to do this high up on the climb. I do state this when I do it if you have the sound up. Amazon links below for solo trad climbing equipment Recommended Rope Bag-https://amzn.to/2TYhBcJ Belay device for rope soloing-https://amzn.to/2P9OfEK 4 pack twist locking carabiner for $30-https://amzn.to/2SloN17 Single twist locking carabiner-https://amzn.to/2Pau4GH A couple things I would change next time solo trad climbing would be to fix the grigri in the upright position. I have seen other people drill holes into the grigri to do this. I wanted to try it without drilling a hole in the grigri. I am wondering if the grigri would slip more when falling if it is not in the right position. Probably going to do some practice falls and see what happens with the grigri in different positions. A little history of the climb Baby at the Gunks. It was once rated a 5.6 because the climb was easier in the past. It had a large chockstone that was locked in the larger offwidth. This chockstone broke out years ago and the climb has been now rated as a 5.7 in the app. Subscribe to my channel and press the bell notification to get the latest videos. I try to release videos every week during climbing season. Thanks and hope to see you out there!
