So what is vermicomposting / what is vermiculture and what is vermicomposting definition Composting is a process where the organic waste matter is decomposed by the action of microorganisms. The residue left after this process of decomposition is called Compost. Since we used worms to carry out the process of composting, we call it Vermi-composting. Now how to use vermicompost. That’s pretty simple. Add some fresh organic waste atone corner of the pit. All the worms will move towards this waste. The remaining compost can be separated and the worms can be used for making more such vermicomposts. This compost is then dried under the sun for few days. After this step, the compost is ready for use. It could be used as fertilizer for growing different types of crops, fruits, and vegetables. Thus by using waste matter and worms, we got manure. What is vermicomposting explain the process and vermicompost production: Step 1: Dug a pit of approximately 35 cm in the ground of rectangular shape. Step 2: Place mesh or net at the bottom of the pit and add a layer of sand. Step 3: Add organic waste matter. Do not add non-degradable waste. Step 4: Sprinkle water over waste to keep pit moist. Step 5: Add species of red earthworms Eisenia foetida. Step 6: Cover the pit with dry straw or gunny bag. Step 7: Frequently sprinkle water and keep the bed moist it will help earthworms to breed. By the end of 4th week, your compost will be ready. Step 8: After your compost is ready. keep it to dry under the sun. I hope you like this video.
