In this video, I break down and answer a bonding (Bonding (3.1.3)) question from an AQA A-Level Chemistry past paper involving a sodium ion. We are required to draw the shape of the ion, state the bond angle and justify our answer. I explain briefly how we need to approach a question like this using the valence electrons to decide the number of bonding pairs and lone pairs and then go on to explain bond angle restriction by lone pairs.
