Born from the union of Enki, the god of wisdom and water, and his consort Ninhursag, the earth mother goddess, Inanna was the embodiment of the earth's fertility. She inspired love and desire in mortals and defended her people in battle. Inanna's famous tale of descending into the underworld to visit her sister, Ereshkigal, is widely known. Stripping herself of her divine power, she faced demons and spirits while imprisoned by her sister for three days. Rescued by the god Enki, Inanna emerged stronger, symbolizing the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The goddess continued to be worshipped as a symbol of love and protection, her legend immortalized through the ages as a testament to the power of the divine feminine.
