In this episode I get to spend some time with Brad Barr. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time, Brad being one of my favourite guitar players ever. In this first of two episodes with Brad, we talk about blues, slide playing, Blind Willie Johnson, how we both hide our picks when we play with our fingers (!) and we also get to hear Brad Barr sing some blues and play some jazz, which is a particularly amazing treat. Brad had the idea that we should jam a bit on Dark Eyes, having recently listened to the Django Reinhardt version, and it was a great idea. Brad is a great jazz improviser, something most people probably don't know. Links to the original Django version as well as to the Blind Willie Johnson song Brad sings for us are below. Brad is know for his band The Barr Brothers, a group he has had with his brother Andrew Barr for many years. There are links to their albums below.
