A tactical analysis of Arne Slot and his out-of-possession tactics at Feyenoord. In this practice, we cover Slot's high-pressing strategy and related patterns. Provide pitch markings to show channels. • The practice requires thirteen (13) outfield players split into a team of seven (7) and a team of (6). • The practice requires a goalkeeper. • The practice starts with the blue goalkeeper. • The blue team’s objective is to pass the ball into the (#8) or (#10) beyond the halfway line. If they pass the ball into the coach, the ball is immediately played back into the red team. • The red team’s objective is to win the ball back and score as quickly as possible. • Ball one (1) and two (2) - Work through pressing pattern one (1) at 50% intensity and coach the roles and responsibilities within this press. • Ball three (3) and four (4) - Play a live game. • Repeat with pressing pattern two (2). STRESSES • Encourage the red team to score within 5 seconds upon winning the ball. • Encourage the blue team to move the ball quickly. • Adjust the formation of the blue team to provide different scenarios. • PHYSICAL LOAD: Adjust area sizes based on physical outcomes. Use larger areas for high sprints/distances and smaller areas for accelerations/decelerations.
