JAN PRAX & CARL-HENRI MORISSET | DUO VISIONS

Presenting the brand new "DUO VISIONS" project of Jan Prax & Carl-Henri Morisset. Recorded and filmed by Jürgen Walter at Hemingway Lounge in Karlsruhe, Germany. JAN PRAX was born in Karlsruhe (Germany) in 1992 and began playing the piano at the age of three. He won numerous prizes as a young classical pianist before his passion for the Jazz saxophone overtook his interest in the piano. Jan completed his bachelor's degree, with top grades and honours, under professor Klaus Graf, and was awarded his master's degree in 2019 from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. In more recent times, Jan has collaborated with musical greats such as David Sanborn, Gene Lake, Riccardo del Fra and Kurt Rosenwinkel. His two CD releases Keepin' A Style Alive (ACT) and Ascending (Challenge Records) were warmly received by critics and audiences alike. His latest album Head To The Sky (Double Moon Records) is a collaboration with legendary American drummer and producer Gene Lake (Steve Coleman, Marcus Miller, David Sanborn, Joe Zawinul, Me'Shell Ndegeocello) and features other world-class musicians such as Federico Gonzalez Peña, Ricky Peterson and Nicky Moroch. CARL-HENRI MORISSET was born in Paris (France) in 1992 and began playing the piano at the Michel Slobo music school at the age of 8. In parallel, he studied the saxophone and the clarinet. In 2011, he obtained his DEM in Jazz piano at the departmental conservatory of Val Maubuée (Noisiel) before joining the CNSMDP. Since 2014, he has performed regularly in Europe with Riccardo Del Fra in various formations such as My Chet My Song, Open Book and Moving People. Currently, he performs in Europe and the world (New Orleans Jazz Festival, Festival International de Montreal) with the saxophonist Archie Shepp and his quartet, his big band Attica Blues and other projects alongside Mos Def, Randy Brecker, Reggie Washington, Hamid Drake. In 2018, Jazz Magazine included him in the list of 20 pianists to follow and was nominated as revelation of the year.
