Mumbai is on red alert till 27th July due to extreme rainfall in the city as several areas received more than 100 mm of rainfall in 12 hrs till 8 pm on the 26th. Amid heavy rainfall, two of Mumbai lakes, Vihar and Tansa surpassed their maximum capacity on Wednesday. The collective water capacity of a total of 7 lakes in Mumbai was filled by 61.58% on Thursday. Despite this, the BMC said that the 10% water cut will continue because these lakes supply water to the city. Last year at the same time, the water levels stood at 89%.
