Elias was born in La Boquilla. This neighbourhood, founded by 300 descendants of slaves, is also home to a precious ecosystem: the mangrove. The submerged forest provides everything to its human inhabitants: food, fresh air and protection from strong winds and currents. That is why Elias has set up an association called Manglares de la Boquilla, which teaches children not to damage the mangrove swamp. The aim is for them to then teach their families about the importance of protecting it. Because if it gets damaged, they will all die.
