Visual Studio Code is a source-code editor made by Microsoft for Windows, Linux and macOS. Features include support for debugging, syntax highlighting, intelligent code completion, snippets, code refactoring, and embedded Git. Users can change the theme, keyboard shortcuts, preferences, and install extensions that add additional functionality. Visual Studio Code can be a great companion to Unity for editing and debugging C# files. All of the C# features are supported and more. Unity has built-in support for opening scripts in Visual Studio Code as an external script editor. Unity will detect when Visual Studio Code is selected as an external script editor and pass the correct arguments to it when opening scripts from Unity.
