Hope you enjoy! This is our first time in Europe, and we were blown away at the sheer size and efficiency of the hostels here. It seem quite common for young people to travel after / during their university studies. In fact, it seems common for people of all ages to travel. As a result, there are these 'Mega Dorms' that have upwards of 300 beds, and most of the staff are travelling foreigners or local tourists themselves. Hanging around the kitchen / common areas is a great way to meet people and get info or tips and tricks on how to best see the tourist hot spots. They're clean and organized and really just a pleasant surprise for us. For those who are wondering -- our place in Germany was the Heart of Gold hostel, and the place here in Budapest, Hungary is called Avenue hostel. Both these places are absolute 5 star hostels!
