The volunteer and paid members of the Severn Valley Railway’s Permanent Way gang are truly our ‘unsung heroes’. The work is hard, long and messy but without it, our heritage steam and diesel trains wouldn’t be going anywhere! They keep more than 16 miles of track in good shape, not to mention plenty more sidings and run round loops. Our cameras caught up with some of the P/Way gang in Kidderminster, where the job was to replace ‘No 37’ points. Sounds easy? If only…..! Please note that the track is a very dangerous place, and there is no public access to it at any time.
