Five were stable, one was minor, one was serious. One firefighter was also seen injured, appearing serious but stable. FDNY transmitted a 1041 code 1 (undetermined cause of fire) At 2am the fire rekindled twice as big as before, with flames shooting out the 2nd floor front windows. FDNY only had one fire engine to battle the flames initially. NYPD: On Friday, January 20, 2023, at approximately 2307 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a residential fire at 24-37 89 Street, within the confines of the 115 Precinct. FDNY personnel also responded and extinguished the fire at the location, a three-story private residence, where they discovered an unidentified male on the 2nd floor. The aided male suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Elmhurst, where he was pronounced deceased. Three additional occupants with minor injuries, a 57-year-old female, a 45-year-old male and a 33-year-old male who were inside of the residence, were also transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Elmhurst and are all listed in stable condition. FDNY Fire Marshall to determine the cause of the fire.
