As previously reported, it will be a Bolliger & Mabillard wingrider design, the first of its kind on the UK. The ride, which has been known as the project name LC12 until this time, will feature what is described as a "unique head first, inverted drop from 127ft." Swiss manufacturers B&M debuted the wingrider design at the Italian theme park Gardaland earlier this year. The Swarm will be built partially over water and will be installed on a new island adjacent to Stealth. A bridge will be constructed linking the area to the existing core of the park. It will open at the start of the 2012 season at Thorpe Park, on 15 March next year. Tickets for the opening of the ride are already on sale via the Thorpe Park website for £30.60. They are valid from 15 March to 1 April 2012. NOTE:The plans for the ride have now been APPROVED. The heights of the elements in the recreation represent the specified heights shown in the submitted plans. Similarly the supporting and layout of this recreation has been derived from the plans.
