Indian-Origin Man In Singapore jailed for failing to return money mistakenly transferred

A 47-year-old Indian man named Periyasamy Mathiyazhagan has been sentenced to nine weeks in jail by a Singapore court after he didn’t return SGD 25,000 (about ₹16 lakh) that was mistakenly transferred to his bank account. Even though Periyasamy knew the money didn’t belong to him, he used it to pay off his debts and sent some of it to his family in India. How It All Started Periyasamy used to work for a plumbing and engineering firm in Singapore from 2021 to 2022. On April 6, 2023, a big mistake happened—one of the administrators from the company accidentally sent SGD 25,000 to Periyasamy’s bank account, thinking it was the company’s account. This administrator had taken a loan from the company and was trying to repay it, but she mistakenly sent the money to Periyasamy’s account. #indianstudents #indiansincanada #indianstudentsabroad Welcome to TimesXP, your go-to source for the latest international news with a special focus on the United States! 🌍🇺🇸 We bring you up-to-date coverage on key global events, breaking news, and in-depth reports that matter to you.
