The full version of the stream -    • We are building a big metropolis! - T...   Description of the mod from the steam workshop page: ENGLISH The class 670 locomotives were developed from the studies carried out by the Adriatic Network, a railway transport company present even before the creation of the FS. In the last years of the 19th century, many problems concerning steam locomotives had not yet been resolved: one of the many was the low power of the machines, a feature that could be improved by extending the boiler. There were also problems related to poor visibility and the risk of intoxication in the sections traveled in the tunnel. One of the various solutions identified was the construction of a locomotive with a cabin arranged in the front (and, consequently, the boiler located at the rear and an inverted engine). The first locomotive, a prototype, was classified RA 3701. This machine was sent to the universal exhibition in Paris in 1900 and, subsequently, was studied and tested by French technicians. The Plancher system engine proved to be of interest but the general technique of the locomotive (atypical for the time), aroused many perplexities. The various series of this locomotive differ from each other in the conformation of the cabin (windows and position of the entrances). Once acquired by the FS, all the cars of the group were re-registered as Gr 670. The tender of those locomotives was nothing more than a tank waggon, transporting water to be used for steam generation. The coal was stored inside the cabine of the locomotive itself. ITALIANO Le locomotive del gruppo 670 vennero ereditate dagli studi svolti dalla Rete Adriatica, società di trasporto ferroviario presente ancor prima della formazione delle FS. Negli ultimi anni del '800 molti problemi riguardanti le locomotive a vapore non erano ancora stati risolti: uno tra i tanti era la scarsa potenza delle macchine, caratteristica che poteva essere migliorata con l'allungamento della caldaia. A questo, si aggiungevano anche i problemi legati alla scarsa visibilità ed al rischio di intossicazione nei tratti percorsi in galleria. Una delle varie soluzioni individuate fu la realizzazione di una locomotiva con cabina disposta nella parte anteriore (e, conseguenzialmente, caldaia situata posteriormente e motore invertito). La prima locomotiva, prototipo, venne classificata come RA 3701. Questa macchina fu inviata all'esposizione universale di Parigi del 1900 e, successivamente, fu studiata e provata dai tecnici Francesi. Il motore a sistema Plancher si rivelò di interesse ma, la tecnica generale della locomotiva (atipica per l'epoca), destò parecchie perplessità. Le varie serie di questa locomotiva differiscono tra loro per la conformazione della cabina (finestrini e posizione degli accessi). Una volta acquisite dalle FS, tutte le macchine del gruppo vennero re-immatricolate come Gr 670. Particolare è il tender di queste locomotive: si tratta effettivamente di un carro cisterna per il trasporto della scorta d'acqua necessaria alla locomotiva.
