Makoto Yuki's Demons - Persona 3 AMV for March 5th

Made this for March 5th, a significant date in the Persona 3 calendar. If you know, you know. If you do not, you really should not be watching this video heh. Go finish the game or watch the movies or experience the story somehow and then come back. Spoilers In Bound Last Chance To Leave Anyway, for those of you in the know, March 5th is when the protagonist of Persona 3, whom I call Makoto Yuki, passes away; succumbing to the exhaustion of his final confrontation with Nyx a little over a month prior. Makoto gave every bit of energy and power he had to seal away Death and give humanity a second chance to live; he should have died then are there on January 31st. However, this chad had a promise to see his friends on graduation day and he had every intention of fulfilling it. This man was basically functioning brain dead for a month just because he loved his friends so much. That is absolutely amazing. For this and many many more reasons, Makoto is a role-model for me. Even if I ignore the characterization from the movies that endeared me to him in the first place, he is still incredibly admirable in the game where he accomplishes the same feats thanks to the power of his bonds. Makoto is my favorite fictional character of all time and whenever I feel weak, I look to him for support and encouragement. I know there are people who clown on a take like this because "silent protagonist self-insert; what character?" yet I honestly do not care. This silent protagonist has kept me strong through so much since I first experienced Persona 3, so what if some people make fun of me for gravitating towards him? Of course, the movies' portrayal definitely contributed a ton to his appeal, yet I think I would still love him just going off of the game alone. For instance, I am playing Persona 5 (ain't watching that anime lol) and I really love Ren because I have been building his character throughout my playthrough with dialogue options and other choices. There is a lot of room for fleshing out these silent protagonists through the choices you make, even if they are mostly minor and will all lead to the same end. When a silent protagonist is done right, there is a lot to love and look up to. So in honor of the anniversary of Door-kun's sacrifice, I put together this AMV. I know "Demons" is a song many have probably been sick of since it came out in 2012-ish, yet I think it honestly fits kind of well for Makoto's character, at least in the movies. I wanted to frame this AMV as if Makoto is reflecting on his journey over the past year during the final fight with Nyx. The first two verses and choruses are his memories, then during the bridge is when it cuts to Makoto rising up as S.E.E.S. gets overwhelmed with shadows and awakens to Messiah. I lowkey feel like I could have done a better job, yet I hope you enjoyed it and that I did my favorite edgy apathetic boy justice. Memento mori, homies. Memento mori. Want more stuff from me? Please like, comment, and subscribe. It helps a lot and I would really appreciate it.
