Gets Worse is a 4-piece PV/grind band hailing from Leeds, UK. This is actually the first project I've heard from this band and I had no idea they had been releasing music for nearly 10 years. They have a great discography that is definitely worth going through if you are a fan of this release. One of the things I love about this band is that every member contributes to vocals which creates this crazy diversity often leading to different barks, growls, and screams cascading over one another creating this sonic blast of extreme vocals. The guitar and bass work is tight and accented by pops of the band's ringy snare. For about half the album's runtime the band plays hyper-fast blasts or snail-paced chugs, with each song lasting close to a minute. The last half of the album the band breaks away from the typical powerviolence formula for an almost 7 minute climax called "Scaffolding." This track is punishing and shows the band allowing a little bit more melody into their writing. It is a great way to cap off an already superb release. I've listened to this album front to back 3 times now and will be giving the rest of their discography a much deeper listen when I have a chance.
