Hello everyone. This video analyzes the troop ratios of the Eastern Front during World War 2 and dispels a few misinterpretations of overall Soviet troop strength. Many people view the Eastern Front as having been won by the Soviet Union from the get go, but this isn't true. Troops ratios were in relative parity up until late 1944 and even then was it not exaggerated. Comments like 'there were 10 Soviets for every German' are simply myths propagated by German archival information like the bundesarchive. After world war 2, Soviet archives were simply inaccessible to Western scholars so as a result Western academia had a very German-centric viewpoint on the events that occurred in the East front. This video first introduces the viewer with the base thesis for the rest of the video, showing that ratios weren't always in favor of the Soviets and in fact were against them on numerous occasions. Afterward I discuss the specifics about Soviet strategies to show how reluctant they were in treating their soldiers like cannon fodder. It also shows how their strategies developed to the point where numerical advantage would not remain such a contributing factor. I also use case examples and also discuss the disparity in equipment in favor of the Soviets. This inevitably brings me to anti tank weaponry and different types of tanks in order to outline my point. So I have a lot that I try to cover in this video, especially since I did not write a script for most of it, but I felt that I made it concise enough to allow crystal clear comprehension.
