A Physics-Based Metroidvania - “Rusted Moss”

It’s pretty rare to see a Metroidvania with any sort of physics-based abilities, so playing Rusted Moss recently has been interesting. Obviously, the more power you give the player, the harder it is to design a curated experience, but I think Rusted Moss still does well in that regard. Granted, I could just be bad, but there were definitely areas I had to come back later to do. Sometimes because it didn’t seem possible without an ability, and sometimes because it’d be possible, but insanely hard. Still, there were also plenty of places I got to “early,” and the game seemed to handle it fine. Be interesting to see speedruns of the game, and see how far they can break it open. Also wanted to mention, because I couldn’t fit it in the video, that I found myself much more invested in the story than I was expecting. I dig the classic fairy tale meets post-apocalypse (mid-apocalypse?) And I mean CLASSIC classic. Brothers Grimm, deadly fae folk pranks type fairy tales. Surprisingly uncommon to see that in games. Anyway, if the editing seems different, that’s because I actually have a real computer now! Believe it or not, all my previous videos were edited on my phone. So while I’m still learning the new software, it’s gonna be nice to not have to do that anymore. It also means the number of games I can talk about has increased dramatically. Finally, I can talk about some of my favorites from PS2, GC, and Wii. I also need to see what’s what in the PC gaming space. I’m sure I’ve missed plenty of gems over the years of being confined to a toaster. At a bit of a loss on where to start there, so feel free to leave suggestions, if you like! With all that said, that’ll do it for this week. Thanks, as always, for your time! And take care out there! ————————————————————— Series Playlist:    • So Here’s a Thing
