Boston Drive: Hancock Street, Quincy

On a Thursday in late February, I drive the length of Hancock St. in historic Quincy, MA. I start under the Neponset Bridge (the border with Boston) and pass a large number of new and under construction apartments and condos. In North Quincy, I pass Sacred Heart Church and quite a variety of small restaurants. Ah, the venerable Wheelhouse Diner is still there! In Wollaston, more small restaurants, and St. Ann's Church. I pass the Veterans Memorial Stadium with its impressive brick wall (a WPA project I believe), then onto Quincy Center - aka Quincy Square. The historic Church of the Presidents (with its gold dome) is where John and John Quincy Adams are buried. A little further down are still more apartments and condos under construction. This area is still undergoing redevelopment. The drive ends where Hancock St. becomes Quincy Ave. Recorded: 02-25-21
