My Loading Problem.. [Sorted!!]

Day 3 of using this method in the video. Boo wasn't the world's best loader when I bought her. Sometimes it could take 3 or 4 attempts before she would load. And sometimes it involved lunge lines and a tap on the bottom to encourage her forward, methods that I just didn't like using. When I first got her we tried to take her out to a lesson and she refused to load with the divider, that's when I knew we had a problem. From that day I worked on leading her on and off the box with Charly as lead, then she would take led and do it without Charly which seemed like a good method until she became too reliant on Charly, and this led to her not wanting to load on the way home when Charly wasn't there. I don't know how she was loaded in the past and frankly I don't want to know. This is when we tried a different method.. All I did was hook the box up in my yard, put a long lunge line on her, and let her do it ALL herself. I have to admit the first day it took 40 minutes to an hour, but it was all done with no force, she chose to come on and be with me in the box. It was only then I could she that she was uneasy with the box. As you can see sometimes she likes to back half way off the ramp and look behind her, perhaps in the fear of getting hit on the bottom, I don't know if she was hit or smacked for not loading, and I'm not saying she was, but that behaviour suggests to me she might have been. I have the side ramp up, the jockey door open, the back half off the divider open and the front bar down so as she can come further into the box. I also have a small bucket of treats/feed at the front of the box which she can come and get if she wants. On the first day she spent a lot of time just standing on the ramp, sniffing it, getting to know it, we would walk her on and off the ramp and she gradually got more and more comfortable. Then she decided 'oh this isn't so bad' so started to come further and further into the box until eventually she was fully on the box. We didn't bribe her with the treats, just left them sitting at the front of the box for her to come and eat if she felt brave enough. Which she eventually did. We didn't try to make her stay on the box, she could back off if she chose. Each day she is getting better and better, and it is taking less and less time. This method is one that works for Boo and myself, I will never again allow anyone to hit her or lay a hand on her bottom when I am loading her. She can and will do it herself when she feels ready to come on, I may look like an eejit at a show just sitting in the box waiting for my horse to load herself, but I don't care. I know that some days it will take longer and some shorter. I know she can do it by herself in her own time. She gets to make the choices, I don't force her. Basically I love her so much and she's just such a clever pony. She already seems to know me and follows me everywhere.. YAY! Thank you Hannah Rose!! For helping me and being very patient on day one of trying to load her this way.
