Something about Paralia Katerini,Greece, Πραλία Κατερίνης

Something about Paralia Katerini,Greece, Πραλία Κατερίνης #hellasheavens#paralia#katerini Paralia Katerini, or just Paralia, as it is commonly known by our tourists, is the most popular and largest resort in the Olympic region. Once the fishing port of Katerini, a village with only a few houses, has grown into a cosmopolitan place with over 7,000 permanent residents, which can thank the many tourists who have stayed in this place during the last decades for its prosperity and development.Paralia belongs to the area of Peria, which is characterized by rich Mediterranean vegetation and a moderate climate, so you will find tourists here all year round. Paralia has a large promenade consisting of the first street parallel to the sea and a series of cross streets, which are paved and studded with restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops... In addition to several smaller markets in Paralia, there is a large Lidl for the supply of daily necessities. Also, supplying all kinds of fuel will not be a problem, because I counted a total of 5 pumps in the nearest vicinity. The nearest charger for electric cars is in Katerini, 7 km away. Due to the very dynamic night life in clubs and discotheques, the place attracts a lot of younger tourists for whom this item is very important when choosing a vacation spot. A greater number of extremely beautiful parks...playgrounds for children...luna park...even a smaller aqua park are things that attract families with smaller children.Renting a bicycle or quad bike can also be very interesting for children, and a special attraction is the tourist train that goes between Pralia and Olympic Beach in the summer. For any unforeseen situations or colds, there are two Serbian-speaking doctors on duty in Paralia, and there are well-stocked pharmacies. The Orthodox Church of the Holy Martyr Fotina, located in the very center of Paralia, really dominates the image of this resort... The size of the church is truly imposing, the architecture is authentic, and the beauty of the white marble is especially noticeable, which is used to form a plateau with a large number of steps in front of the church, on which various events and concerts during the summer months... It is interesting to point out that liturgies in the church are also held in the Serbian language...Paralia does not have a local market, but in Katerini, 7 km away, a large market opens every Wednesday and Saturday where you can find cheap fruits, vegetables, spices, olive products, fabrics and simply enjoy and feel the pulse of the local population. Given the proximity of the Mount of Gods, I have always been impressed by this extraordinary view of Olympus... so, accordingly, we can also say that the water from the faucets in Paralia is good for drinking and comes directly from Olympus. What our tourists probably really like is the fact that the Serbian language is used here more than Greek, so among other things, the office of the United Serbia party opens in Paralia every season, where they are at your disposal in case you need any help or information while you are there on vacation, so we can conclude that in Paralia you will not need to know any foreign language besides Serbian. You can't leave Paralia without going shopping... Over 200 stores of leather and fur clothing, gold and jewelry, perfumes, sports equipment, wardrobe... and with very favorable prices with the possibility of additional bargaining. For those for whom that is not enough, just 7 km from Paralia is Katerini, a city with over 60,000 inhabitants, to which there is a regular bus line and a bus ticket costs 1.5 euros one way and can be purchased at the machine at the bus stop itself... In just two streets, which are actually a promenade in Katerini, you will find almost all the world's famous brands... Stores in Katerini are closed on Sundays and during the week they don't have the working hours you are used to. They usually work twice a day or not at all. Of course, you will find many sights in such a large city, and this exceptionally well-organized park not far from the pedestrian area of Katerini caught my eye in particular...A large number of visitors to Paralia decide to visit Thessaloniki, 70 km away, which can be reached in less than 50 minutes by car... Of course, I wouldn't equate Thessaloniki with shopping, but somehow one-day visits always turn out that way... We will have to spend a lot more time getting to know this majesty... In addition to trips to Thessaloniki, agencies in Paralia also organize one-day tours of Meteora, Mount Athos, Mount Olympus, or enjoying a bar party known as "Greek Night"... We took advantage of the bad weather to visit the traditional village of Old Panteleimon, 46 km away...
