Who Are SIDDIS of INDIA? How Siddis Are Living in India After 700Years?

Siddi Tribe Dance | Siddi Tribe Song | Siddi Tribe in Karnataka During the Arab slave trade, which had been ongoing for centuries, African individuals were captured and sold into slavery across various regions, including the Indian subcontinent. Many Siddis are thought to have arrived in India as slaves or servants, brought by Arab merchants and rulers. Also, the arrival of the Portuguese in India during the 15th century also played a significant role in the Siddis' migration. They recruited Africans to serve as soldiers, sailors, and mercenaries. As a result of these historical processes, the Siddis gradually integrated into Indian society while retaining their distinct cultural elements. They settled along the western coastal regions and established their unique identity, blending African traditions with Indian customs. Today, the Siddis form a fascinating cultural community that contributes to the rich diversity of India. Today, there are 50,000 Siddis in India, and they are mainly found in four Indian states—Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh of which 40% are Hindu, 30% Muslim, and 30% Christian. Along with India, there are also 250,000 Siddis who live in Pakistan. #sidditribes #howmanyplaces #southindiatravel South India Travel Series:    • SOUTH INDIA Travel Series   Subscribe:    / @howmanyplaces   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ADD ME : Instagram -   / howmany_places   Facebook -   / howmanyplacessubham
