Single-Story Private Residence: Harmonizing Indoor Living with the Outdoor Landscape

"This is a project designed to savor Yucatán, its sky, its breeze, and its greenery. The footprint of the house occupies just one-fifth of the land, always leaving space free and allowing vegetation to take center stage. Fully open to the north and south, it ensures comfort in terms of winds, sunlight in every space, and views toward the greenery, creating a green barrier around the entire property. The result is absolute privacy for users in every space at all times. Casa Akúun, or in English, 'Alamo House,' is a nearly seventy-meter-long residence, practically divided by a tree of this species, situated in a courtyard nestled between the public and private areas of the house. One of the intentions of the house is to seamlessly connect the interior with the exterior, eliminating barriers and facilitating free movement from one side to the other. The property has the unique feature of bordering three roads, allowing the project to have two completely opposite entrances, both in location and user experience. The first is the daily entrance, where the garage is located, as well as access to the private areas of the house. The route winds through the southwest part of the house, surrounded by greenery on all sides, where a green passage welcomes those who inhabit it, embracing them and leaving the city behind. The second entrance is the social entrance on the northeast side, also navigating through pre-existing vegetation but in more open spaces, offering the possibility to observe the house from a distance. This route concludes with a large Pich (Guanacaste tree) located next to the access esplanade, an exterior prelude to the social space.
