Joi Gresham, director of the Lorraine Hansberry Literary Trust, introduces the life and work of American playwright Lorraine Hansberry, in relation to her final play, Les Blancs. Most well-know for A Raisin in the Sun (1959), Lorraine believed that the obligation of the artist is to illuminate her and our times. Les Blancs marked the National Theatre debut of the multi-award-winning director Yaël Farber, whose productions include The Crucible (Old Vic) and the internationally acclaimed Mies Julie and Nirbhaya. Les Blancs is streaming for free with National Theatre at Home from 7pm UK time on Thursday 2 July, until 7pm UK time on Thursday 29 July 2020.
