Two times the grimacing! Two times the plot holes! Two times the utter stupidity! Originally uploaded July 12th, 2010. RUMINATIONS: As with the first Cable review, this really should have been labeled "Cable: Blood and Metal," since I thought when I first reviewed it that it was for an ongoing series, but rather just a very lame two-issue miniseries. I return to old comics a lot these days, but back then it was a novelty to see me returning to an issue I had previously reviewed to finish things up. This episode also serves to put an epilogue on the "Linkara Lost" sub-arc, setting up a few details that would get expanded upon later for the finale -- like the Shades not having any internal power, but rather getting transmitted power from Vyce and his ship... which were now on their way. Something that's not really expounded upon in the show is that from Linkara's perspective, he spent three days on Vyce's ship being scanned and poked and prodded. He mentions an escape attempt where he learned the Shades were robots, but he never encountered Vyce himself (based on statements he made to Vyce in the final Cry for Justice review). I sometimes wonder if I should go back and do a thing where we explore this some more, buuuut I'm not sure what would be served by it. All that happened was he was held prisoner, scanned a lot (which is how Vyce learns he's a champion), but beyond that nothing of note happened. One thing that differentiates me from the Linkara character is technical know-how. Linkara built Pollo, tends to work well with robotics and machines, and knows his way around electronics. Me personally? I'm actually the exception in my family. I like building things, but using glue and hammers and crap. I build furniture and stuff -- it's the rest of my family that likes building computers and the like. I'm lucky if I know the difference between RAM and a CPU. Also, I still love that ending gag of all the other people in line to audition to do the reviews in Linkara's absence. How the hell would a Pyramid Head-hosted episode even work? Oh and hey, neat: this was originally put up almost four years to the day ago. Time flies, eh?
