The commentary was provided by Susan Wolf. This talk was given as part of the 2002-2003 Tanner Lecture Series at Berkeley. Derek Parfit has made major contributions to our understanding of personal identity, philosophy of the mind, and ethics. He is thought to be one of the most important moral philosophers of the past century.
