Psychopaths DO have EMOTIONS and it’s SCARY

We are hooked by true crime, serial killers, and psychopaths. Hannibal Lecter or John Wayne Gacy are just two of the famous examples on what we imagine psychopaths to be like. Cold and composed people who show zero emotion. The common belief is that clinical psychopaths are not even able to feel emotion. The lack of empathy and emotion is even one of the criteria that would put you up in the category of having psychopathic traits. Researchers have been working on understanding psychopaths and their emotion for a while. And some of the more recent findings are fascinating. So far we assumed that psychopath lack empathy completely and are barely able to experience any genuine emotion. They are incredibly good at emulating emotion and feelings but can't really relate to it. There is an interesting experiment that shows that psychopaths do NOT lack any brain structure or are incapable of empathy. The experiment which consists of video clips of people facing discomfort and pain showed that psychopaths would usually not feel any trigger, no signal. However, when clearly instructed by the researchers, to try to put themselves in the position of the people in the clips, psychopaths indeed showed a response in the brain scan! Just like the normal people. So it seems like psychopaths can activate that when required. This could be game changing, not just as a scary thing but also to treat them at some point. And even for you, this is relevant, because it highlights the power of being able to control your emotion. An emotional game at its finest. You could improve in business, in negotiations, whenever you are dealing with people and there is a benefit to be in charge of your emotional response instead of being a victim of your emotion.
