This particular paint scheme would match his aircraft between June 3rd & June 5th of that year, shortly after he earned his Knight's Cross & just before he was shot down in this 109 on the 5th of June. Mölders was captured by French troops, but returned to flying a few weeks later after the country's surrender. Mölders would go on to become the first military aviator in history to score 100 aerial victories & was appointed the General of Luftwaffe Fighters before the age of 30.
