Kashmir Chronicles: Exploring Mughal Road, Pir Ki Gali, and Aharbal

Welcome to another journey through the enchanting destinations of South Kashmir. Today, we're traveling along the historic Mughal Road, visiting Pir Ki Gali, the highest mountain pass on the Mughal road, and the largest and magnificent waterfall of Kashmir valley Aharbal. Our journey begins on the Mughal Road, a route steeped in history. This road was originally built in the 16th century by the Mughal emperors to connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. The Mughal road originated at the Mughal capital, Agra (in UP). It found its way through Lahore (now in Pakistan) to Poonch, Rajouri and thence, to Srinagar in the kashmir valley. The Poonch segment of a road used to be called the the ‘salt road’ till Jehangir (early 17th century) travelled on it and renamed it the Mughal road. Traversing through the Pir Panjal Range, the Mughal Road was a vital trade and travel route, facilitating the movement of goods and people. There are various worth seeing bridges and spots along the Mughal road. As we ascend, we arrive at Pir Ki Gali, the highest point on the Mughal Road. Standing at an elevation of over 11,000 feet, Pir Ki Gali presents spectacular views. Pir Ki Gali holds not only natural beauty but also historical and spiritual significance. The place is named after a revered saint who is said to have meditated here. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and lush green meadows, it's easy to see why this location was a favored stop for the Mughal emperors. you can witness the clouds passing by you at the eye level along with a chilling breeze even in extremely hot summer. On our journey back, we went to: the Aharbal Waterfall. Often referred to as the "Niagara of Kashmir," Aharbal is one of the most stunning and largest waterfalls in the region. This waterfall is fed by the Veshaw River, a tributary of the Jehlum River - The water cascades from a height of approximately 80 feet creating a mesmerizing display and sound as it falls over the rocky terrain, forming a series of smaller falls. #kashmir #travel #vlog #mughalroad #nature #aharbalwaterfall
