Manipur Violence: Amit Shah intervenes, talks to CM Biren Singh; Army helping, restoring law & order

The Tribal stir to protect forests in the face of resistance from illegal immigrants has turned violent in Manipur. Tribal students’ unions are also protesting against the inclusion of Meitei Community in the SC/ST category. A rally was organised by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) in parts of Manipur to protest against the demand. Meanwhile, State Chief Minister N Biren Singh humbly appealed protestors to maintain peace & harmony. Internet services have been suspended in Manipur for five days amid protests and fighting among youths. Curfew has been imposed in eight districts of the north-eastern state to maintain law and order. Olympian and former Rajya Sabha MP Mary Kom demanded State, Central Governments intervention. Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to CM N Biren Singh and took stock of the situation.
