BEACHLANDS SPEEDWAY, CARNAGE NIGHT 2022

Once again, was good decision to belt on down the highway to Dunedin TO Custom Signs Beachlands Speedway for the 5th November speedway meeting and boy oh boy, throughout the night, some fantastic racing and also some big smackos. I think all classes had some fender bending action going on, in many styles, from up and over, to spearing on thru, to rock n roll sideways and over we go, to slow motion end for ends, it was a very full on night for all safety crew on the infield. Tell ya what, if ya want to have a smash, the track is the place too do it, as its only seconds before the lads and gals are there to help you out. As good as my camera is, i will never show guts n glory, definitely get the action, but as we all love and know, speedway or any motor racing has its dangers and we love it. I personally know how dangerous it can be, as i got sent for a 6 many years ago when hit at 160km/h, no memory whatsover for couple weeks of blankness, plus few other injures but hey, bugger, life is a risk, so enjoy it while you can and all these blokes and gals who put a skid lid on, clamber into a racecar know full well the risk that runs with speed and weapons on wheels, its what we love, not only do we get good racing but also that huge risk of things going wrong is always present, whether its used is another thing. The great thing is, with the engineering that goes on, in developing a car, you have to take ya hat of to the car builders, as most of the time drivers, riders will get out unscathed. Then you have the crews on the infield waiting and on the ready. One that i did miss and my god it was a beaut. As i dont film the Production race, i do watch one car and that is the Skilling Commodore. Ya cant beat watching rear wheel drive, as they belt round the track, backside hanging out with the boot fair up it. This young buck has a near roll over in one race, as he ful steamed into Turn 1, front grabbed, put him high up on two wheels, but miraculously, on the edge of roofing it, managed to get all four back on the ground and power away from the wall. But in the next race, up there on between Turn 3 and 4, caught this dark shadow, as though it was in slow motion, going end for end, with the whole floor pan, the underside in full view to the crown down on Turn 1 and 2. Spectacular roll or end for end and good thing was, with a puff of smoke, he was still able to drive. But to the infield he went. So heres just a few snippets before i now go and delete much video footage, as overloaded , frying computer is near kaput. To the lads and gals that had a rock n roll of a night, heres hoping all the black and bruising is gone and you ready to go again, cheers to all. You give many hundreds a great night of speedway action.
