The BEST Scotch I've Tried? || Glenallachie 12 Scotch Whisky REVIEW

I finally found a scotch whisky I really like! After following some of your recommendations, I tried a mini of this scotch, and I liked it so much, I bought a full-size bottle! This is the Glenallachie 12 year old, which is the “entry level” to the Glenallachie range. Billy Walker, the head distiller at Glenallachie, apparently revitalised their cask programme recently, and made sure they started putting out some really nice whiskys, and I think he succeeded! This whisky was aged in 1st and 2nd fill bourbon casks, virgin oak casks, Oloroso sherry casks and PX sherry casks, so it should have plenty of lovely influence on top of the nice rich base of a speyside single malt scotch. It comes in at 46% ABV is natural colour and non-chill-filtered. Tasting Notes Nose: Quite malty, but the sherry influence is front and centre, with figs, dried fruits and some earthy oak spice rounding it off. It’s sweet, with brown sugar, caramel and maple syrup, in a way that reminds me of maraschino cherry syrup, as the sherry note is definitely the main attraction. Palate: It’s got a rich mouthfeel, with syrupy sherry all day from the PX, but still retaining dried fruits from the Oloroso. There’s a touch of oak tannins, ginger and cinnamon spice, reminding me of gingerbread, but with some light chocolatey notes. On the second sip, the spice was more pronounced, with pepper and more gingerbread. Finish: On the finish, it’s medium, with the sweetness fading, leaving the spice, oak tannins and a hint of dark chocolate Ultimately, I really like this whisky, it’s nice and approachable, but with a solid depth behind it which makes for a tasty little dram. I’ve also picked up the 15 year old and the Cask Strength 10 year old from Glenallachie, so check back for them later! ------------------------------------------------------- I'm a total whiskey nerd and this channel is all about Whiskey, Whisky, Bourbon, Rye, Pot Still Whiskey and Single Malt Whiskey. I'm always on the hunt for the best whiskey and love making whiskey review videos. My passion is for Irish whiskey, but I'm open to looking for the best Bourbon or the best scotch too! I'm an Irishman, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying whiskeys from all around the world, from Kentucky bourbon to Japanese single malts. I also love making cocktails, especially whiskey cocktails (or whisky cocktails) and really enjoy taking a classic recipe and adding my own twist to it, or making simple, 3 ingredient cocktails Make sure to subscribe for reviews every Wednesday and cocktail recipes every Friday! https://www.youtube.com/channel/TheWh...
